Who can take the heat? Come to Fort Mill’s Main Street tonight to find out

FORT MILL — If that sweat is flying on Main Street Saturday night, it might not be just the summer heat.

As part of the Town of Fort Mill’s final 2019 free Summer Concert Series tonight, Puckerbutt Pepper Co., creator of the world’s hottest Carolina Reaper pepper, is hosting a a hot pepper eating contest. Competitive eaters from around the world will take the stage at 6:30 p.m. to see who can stand the heat. Members of the public are also invited to try Puckerbutt peppers and products.

After the contest, at 7:30 p.m., the band Cassette Rewind performs. As their name suggests, they’ll perform your favorite hits from the 80s.

The event opens at 6 p.m., and food and beverages, including beer and wine, will be available for sale. Note: No pets, coolers or outside alcohol, food or drink are allowed.

Upcoming Movies in the Park

Fort Mill’s ‘Movies in the Park’ finishes the season with its rescheduled movie “Ice Age: Collision Course” on Friday, Aug. 9 in Veterans Park.

Featuring the voices of Ray Ramano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary and Queen Latifah, the movie follows Manny the mammoth and his friends as they search for ways to fend off a swarm of impending asteroids.

Bring your blankets and chairs to Veterans Park and enjoy the free movie with your family under the stars! The movie begins at dusk (around 8:30 p.m.) and concessions will be available for purchase at this event.
