FORT MILL – Two new elementary school principals, Adam Fantone and Jad Griffin, were approved as new hires for the 2020–’21 school year during Tuesday night’s Fort Mill School Board meeting.

Fantone will replace Peter Olinger at Springfield Elementary School. Olinger will become principal of River Trail Elementary School. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Mount Union College and a Master’s in the K-12 Principal Program from California University of Pennsylvania.

Fantone has worked in education for the past 14 years. He joined the Fort Mill School District in 2010 as an elementary school teacher at Orchard Park and continued on to Doby’s Bridge Elementary, first as a teacher and then in his current role as Assistant Principal. He also served as the Summer Camp Program Leader for the district’s Lunch and Learn program and was previously selected as the 2014-2015 Doby’s Bridge Teacher of the Year.

Griffin will replace Jocelyn Young at Fort Mill Elementary School. Young will become principal of Kings Town Elementary. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Winthrop University and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Western Governor’s University and has worked in education for the past 11 years first as a fifth grade teacher at Riverview Elementary, followed by Pleasant Knoll Elementary.

Griffin then transitioned into the role of assistant principal at Indian Land Elementary before taking his current role as assistant principal at Fort Mill Elementary in 2015.

“We are pleased to announce Mr. Fantone and Mr. Griffin as new principals in our district,” said Superintendent Dr. Chuck Epps. “They are both great examples of the leaders being developed in our district and will help continue the outstanding level of education at both schools.”
