After scare, life returns to normal in Tega Cay today

TEGA CAY — The Shore Club will reopen today after an incident last night that had officials and residents on edge, according to city police.

City police and firefighters and first responders from other jurisdictions converged in the golf course area last night after a bomb threat at The Shore Club, a restaurant and popular city entertainment destination, according to multiple posts on Tega Cay’s official Facebook page.

“The Shore Club is open and no other facilities were affected,” James Patterson, public information officer for the Tega Cay Police Department, wrote in a text this morning.

“At 8:02 PM we were dispatched to a bomb threat at the Shore Club. Officers arrived and evacuated the building. All areas were checked and cleared by officers.”

According to the city’s Facebook posts and comments posted by residents, the Shore Club and adjoining Glennon Center were both cleared and closed while first responders investigated. Local roads were also closed for a time during the investigation Saturday night.

The popular locally-based band DeCarlo was scheduled to perform at the Shore Club last night.
