FORT MILL — Two men, apparently working together, spirited a bottle of liquor from a Fort Mill liquor, according to a York County Sheriff’s Office report.
The manager of Bottom’s Up Wine and Spirits on S.C. 160 called the sheriff’s office after realizing the pair shoplifted the bottle on Feb. 26, according to the report. One of the men walked into the store and told the manager he wanted “to return some alcohol he had purchased,” the report states. While the manager was engaged with that customer, the other man walked in and, as surveillance video later revealed, “attempted to steal a large bottle of liquor.”
When he was unable to conceal that bottle in the pocket of the hoodie he was wearing, the man “placed it back on the shelf and reached for a 1-liter bottle of Crown Royal Reserve,” which he was able to conceal before walking out of the store, the report states.
After the suspect with the shoplifted bottle left the store, the first customer left soon after. Surveillance video showed the two men get into the same vehicle and exit the strip mall where the liquor store operates, according to the report.
