FORT MILL — Teams representing the Tega Cay and Fort Mill police departments, other first responders, local schools and individuals from across the area turned out for the 2019 Polar Plunge to raise money for Special Olympics.

While temperatures earlier in the week were unseasonably warm, reaching near 80 Thursday and Friday, the mercury dipped well below 40 overnight and was barely above 40 when folks started plunging into the water.

This year’s effort raised over $20,000.
